![]() I also had the pleasure of working closely with actor Gordon Tootoosis. While working with Anthony Hopkins was cool, working with the 1400 lbs of Bart the bear was an incredible moment. Shooting the film in and around the Stoney Nakoda First Nation land in the stunning foothills of my home province of Alberta was an awe inspiring experience. That experience solidified my desire to do this for the rest of my life. When I was 14 I had a small part in the film LEGENDS OF THE FALL. I loved performing in front of an audience and so when I was 9 my parents thought I might enjoy a theater summer camp. I think what’s at the heart of that still holds true. The dinner table made for a great audience, everybody had to sit down in one place for at least 20 minutes and I could take center stage making faces and getting my aunts and uncles to laugh. I have realized the importance of self-care, mental health and yes doing things just for the pure pleasure of it.Ĭynthia: Describe for me when and how you first discovered the pleasure of acting? (and can you talk about being in Legends Of The Fall?:)Įric: My parents would say I discovered my pleasure for acting at the dinner table before I could even talk. That guilt would often eat away at the experience itself, before, after and even during, like a nagging mother on my shoulder saying “Shouldn’t you be studying or doing your taxes right now?” But as I’ve got older and it’s dawned on me that life is not a sprint but in fact a marathon. ![]() Don’t get me wrong, I would indulge myself all the time but there was a residual guilt attached to it. When I was young, I think I thought of doing something for just the sake of pleasure to be self-indulgent and even undisciplined. With that in mind, what does the word ‘pleasure’ mean to you – and why do you think it’s important?Įric: The word pleasure for me has changed it’s meaning as I’ve got older. I have realized the importance of self-care, mental health and yes doing things just for the pure pleasure of it.Ĭynthia: My entire purpose right now is to take the word pleasure from what it is often seen as (which I believe is, the “dirty cousin” to happiness) and elevate it to be seen as something important as passion or purpose. ![]()
